New online tool collects and analyzes data on the quality management systems of medical device designers and manufacturers
WINDHAM, NH – December 9, 2013 - Dynamic Benchmarking, a provider of dynamic online benchmarking and reporting solutions, today announced that they have completed the successful launch of a third online benchmarking platform for the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI). This new tool, Quality Management System for Medical Devices, helps medical device designers and manufacturers determine how their quality management systems (QMS) compare with that of their peer companies.
AAMI serves a diverse community of nearly 7,000 healthcare technology professionals united by one important mission—supporting the healthcare community in the development, management, and use of safe and effective medical technology. In an industry where quality and precision are not only highly prized, but highly regulated, benchmarking plays a vital role in identifying best practices, areas in need of improvement, and comparing key performance indicators. AAMI turned to Dynamic Benchmarking to develop intuitive and easy to use resources because of their expertise in developing highly effective and powerful data collection and analysis platforms.
“We were incredibly impressed with the dynamic nature of their online benchmarking platform,” says AAMI Chief Operating Officer, Steve Campbell, about Dynamic Benchmarking. “In this day and age, it’s important that online surveys be intuitive and easy to use. People can be easily turned off by systems that are complicated or that require a lot of training or time. With Dynamic Benchmarking you instinctively know what to do because it’s a clean, simple and powerful tool.”
Three years ago, Dynamic Benchmarking developed the first of three benchmarking platforms for AAMI, one that enabled sterile processing professionals in hospitals to benchmark their procedures, policies, and processes against other departments of comparable size, location, and hospital type. Pleased with the outcome, they commissioned Dynamic Benchmarking to develop another platform geared toward the needs of their healthcare technology management (HTM) segment and then, the most recent, for quality systems and regulatory affairs professionals working for medical device manufacturers. All three platforms feature online surveys that include qualitative and quantitative questions by subject area covering issues such as regulations, budgets, procedures, and a number of other issues; and an easy-to-use section to analyze results. Member reception and usage of the platforms has been extremely positive.
“In survey after survey, all segments of our membership said they wanted access to benchmarking data so they could compare themselves against others, learn from each other, and see where they perform particularly well and where they need to improve,” continues Campbell. “Now, they have that resource and we, with the help of Dynamic Benchmarking, delivered it, meeting a substantial need of our membership.”
Through the Dynamic Benchmarking platforms, AAMI members can now identify where they excel and where they can improve, they have data that can provide justification for new staff positions or increased budgeting, and they can learn from other subscribers. Some subscribers have also used the data for marketing purposes to show other departments how they fare in a particular area, or to educate staff about a particular issue.
